Short haul modems provide local communication between scale system hardware and computers.Short Haul Modems are best used when peripheral devices such as remote data terminals, remote printers, radio frequency terminals, etc. are more than 50 feet distance from the computer. Low voltage transmission levels minimize cross-talk between adjacent lines within the same cable. 

Typically, two modems are required, one at the data logger end and one at the computer end.
