Today, many software companies begin with a product and then look for customers who fit within its capabilities.
Interface Logic Systems was built differently.
For more than 40 years, ILS has focused on understanding customer operations, identifying bottlenecks, and developing practical solutions that improve efficiency, accountability, and operational visibility.
This customer-driven approach helped shape technologies ranging from RFID vehicle identification and unattended weighing to loadout automation, industrial hardware, and the ScaleQ platform used today.
When Interface Logic Systems was founded in 1986, software was not nearly as common in industrial operations as it is today.
Co-founder Eli Sneward spent much of his time visiting facilities, talking directly with customers, and learning how their operations worked.
There were no virtual meetings or remote demonstrations. Understanding a customer's operation meant travelling to the site, observing the workflow, and asking questions.
Rather than leading with a product presentation, Eli focused on understanding operational challenges.

After identifying the operational challenge, the ILS team would design solutions around the way the customer actually worked.
Software development was led by Charlie Libicki, while Jack McDaniel designed hardware, electronics, control systems, and wiring schematics needed to support the application.
This combination of software, hardware, and automation allowed ILS to solve problems that could not be addressed through standard software packages alone.
