The ILS Traffic Light Control System is designed for bulk weighing operations where controlled vehicle movement is essential for safety, accuracy, and throughput.

The system interfaces directly with ILS ScaleQ software, providing manual or automated control of red/green traffic lights at one or more truck scales. Traffic light control systems are available for single‑scale or multi‑scale installations.

Integrated Control with ScaleQ Software

The traffic light control system supports two‑section (red/green) traffic lights on each truck scale and can control:

• One or two traffic lights per scale
• Incoming and outgoing vehicle lanes
• Single or multiple scale configurations

All light status and control is managed within the ScaleQ software interface, ensuring consistent automation and operator visibility.

Typical Operating Sequence

A standard traffic control configuration operates as follows:

• Scale empty

  • Incoming and outgoing traffic lights are green

• Vehicle boards the scale

  • Both traffic lights switch to red

• Weighment completed

  • Outgoing traffic light switches to green, signaling the driver to exit the scale

• Scale returns to zero weight

  • Incoming traffic light switches to green, signaling the next vehicle to board

This sequence ensures controlled, orderly movement of vehicles and prevents premature boarding or exiting.

Advanced Configurations Available

Additional traffic control configurations are available to meet specific operational requirements.

Vehicle Positioning Light Integration

The traffic light control system can integrate with vehicle positioning sensors, using photoelectric transmitter/receiver pairs installed at each end of the scale.

When positioning sensors are enabled:

• If a beam is blocked, the system detects improper vehicle placement
• Directional lights prompt the driver to move forward or backward
• The transaction remains inhibited until the beam is cleared

This configuration improves weighing accuracy and supports unattended operation.

Operator Visibility and Manual Override

Traffic light status is displayed adjacent to the live scale weight on the ScaleQ operator screen, providing real‑time visibility into vehicle flow.

Manual override control is also available within ScaleQ, allowing operators to:

• Manually change light states
• Manage exceptional situations
• Maintain control during maintenance or unusual traffic conditions
